Enjoy day or half-day trips from Sherkin or Baltimore, with the object of observing the dolphins, whales and sea birds that frequent the fabulous coast of West Cork, or just enjoying the thrill of sailing a powerful classic sailing boat and exploring the fabulous islands of Roaringwater Bay.

‘Anna M’ is a 45' wooden stay-sail schooner, designed by famed Fastnet designer/skipper John Illingworth, and built in Chantier La Seyne, Toulon, France in 1969. Irish Sailing Association endorsed Skipper Joe Aston, who has 50 years of sailing experience, also spent 26 years as a commercial fishing skipper on the West coast of Ireland. He has owned and operated her for charter since 1999, concentrating especially on dolphin and whale watching from April till October. In winter he is likely to be sailing the Gannets’ Way to Brittany and Spain or off round the Atlantic.

‘Anna M’ has recently been extensively renovated, reequipped, resailed by UKMcWilliam of Crosshaven, redecked at Hegarty’s of Old Court, and reengined with a 50hp Beta diesel. She is licensed by the Department of the Marine for 7 passengers, and based at Horseshoe Bay, Sherkin Island, West Cork, Ireland.. 

Tailored trips
Skipper Joe tailors each trip according to the weather, the circumstances and the guests; a unique personal experience for them. The cost per person varies from a minimum of €50 for 3 hours to €95 for a full day's sailing. A 4 hour trip with light refreshment would be €65, 5 hour with lunch, €75. Under 18s, half price, toddlers in family groups go free. Residents at Horseshoe Cottage and groups of 5 to the maximum of 7 get a slightly better deal, especially if they take advantage of the special offer (through the summer) of 2 nights’ B&B and a full day’s sailing for two at €325.00!
